Why do even experienced homeopaths have to be assessed?

All professions have some manner of assessment for individuals wishing to enter the profession. Assessment helps to determine an individual’s ability to practise at the level of basic competence and standards set by a profession.

The College of Homeopaths has a mandate of public protection. Fair, transparent, objective and impartial assessment provides the public, profession and health care system with clear expectations on the level of knowledge, skills and judgement of a homeopath.

After research and consideration, the College's Council selected the model of competency-based assessment as a fair way to assess individuals. This approach accounts for differences in education, training and practice style across the homeopathic profession. Assessment is done by an objective third-party assessment company that employs trained homeopaths as assessors.
